Overview

Begin your tour with a short stop at the Corinth Canal, a narrow man-made waterway that connects the Aegean Sea with the Ionian Sea. View the canal from above, take photographs, and learn about its engineering history and importance for maritime trade in modern Greece. Continue to the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, one of the most influential city-states in classical antiquity. Walk through the ruins, including the Temple of Apollo (6th century BC), the Roman Agora, and the Bema, a platform where the Apostle Paul is believed to have appeared before Roman authorities. Next, visit the Ancient Corinth and it's Archaeological Museum, which features the famous Temple of Apollo and a collection of artifacts such as pottery, sculptures, mosaics, and inscriptions that demonstrate the city’s wealth and cultural significance. Stop at the Church of St. Paul, built in honor of the Apostle’s missionary work in the region. Then, head to Kechries, the ancient eastern port of Corinth, from which St. Paul is believed to have departed for Syria. In Kechries, visit a local olive oil cooperative, where you’ll receive a guided tour of the olive groves and olive mill. Learn about the process of olive oil production, from harvesting to cold extraction and bottling. Conclude your experience with a professional olive oil and local products tasting session, where you’ll learn how to assess the quality of extra virgin olive oil by analyzing its aroma, color, and flavor profile.
