Overview

Depart from Loutraki for the Corinth canal (short stop to admire the canal). Continue to Epidaurus and visit the ancient theatre. The UNESCO’s world heritage listed monument is reputed to be the birthplace of Apollo’s son Asclepios the healer and was the most celebrated healing center of the classical world. Epidaurus is probably most famous for its theatre, one of the best preserved classical Greek buildings and still used today due to its amazing acoustics. You will visit also the museum where you can see the statue of Asclepius and Hygeia as well as bronze medical instruments providing an informative insight into medical practice at the sanctuary of Asclepius. Then proceed to Nafplio the first capital of modern Greece with its venetian fortress of Palamidi and the fortified islet of Bourtzi. After a small guided walking tour of the city explore Nafplio have lunch or relax in a café (optional) beside the sea with amazing views of Bourtzi islet in the middle of the port. After our one hour stop at Nafplio continue through the fertile Argolic valley of orange groves will bring you to to Mycenae and visit the archaeological site, home to the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon. Visit the the Mycenean citadel, the lionesses gate and the tomb of Agamemnon. The tour returns to Loutraki in the late afternoon.
