ITINERARY

Day 1Arrival In Greece – Loutraki Thermal Spa

Arrival to Athens airport. Day 2Athens City Tour – Acropolis Museum

Breakfast and departure for the beautiful capital of Greece, Athens, in a guided sightseeing tour. Athens is a city of great cultural interest as well as a bustling, modern city. The harmonious and perfectly balanced combination between the old and the new make Athens unique. With our expert guide you will see the Panathenaic stadium where the first Olympic games of modern times were held in 1896. Continue and pass by the prime minister’s residence (ex royal palace), the temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian’s arch, the Greek parliament and the memorial to the unknown soldier and so more.
Continue and visit the most famous surviving building of ancient Greece and one of the most famous buildings in the world, the Parthenon. Lunch at the traditional area of ‘Plaka’ and then visit at the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: the new acropolis museum.
Afternoon 17:00 – 20:00 seminar in biblical archaeology. Overnight.

Day 3Argolis

The full day tour of Argolis is a trip to some of the most important archaeological sites of Greece, in the most characteristic Greek-Mediterranean scenery of Peloponnese.

Leaving Loutraki behind and driving through the hills of Corinth, among thousands of olive trees and vineyards, we are going to visit Epidaurus, famous for it’s ancient theatre. The view, aesthetics and acoustics of the theatre are breathtaking. It’s still in use today and hosts carefully selected theatrical plays, concerts, and festivals during the summer. For an actor to perform in the theatre of Epidaurus is considered the greatest honor and the ultimate acknowledgement of his or her talent, if he wins over the tough audience.

Afterwards, we we’ll drive among endless farms of orange trees and forty minutes later we’ll arrive to the picturesque town of Nafplio first capital of the Greek state in the early 1830s. The old town is lovely, with old mansions and paved paths. The whole town gives a neoclassical vibe that attracts all visitors. Lunch at a traditional tavern

Finally, we’ll visit one of the most important archaeological site of Greece, Mycenae.
Mycenae, ‘rich in gold’, was the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon, who dominated the Aegean sea after the distraction of the Minoan empire. The palace, symbol of power of the Mycenean rulers, was reached by a large ramp beginning at the lions gate. Outside the fortress lie the impressive beehive tombs including that ascribed to Agamemnon known also as the treasury of Atreas. Early in the afternoon back to Loutraki. Overnight.

Day 4Ancient Corinth – Nemea Wine Tasting – Corinth Canal Crossing

Leaving Loutraki in the morning, there will be a short stop at Corinth canal before continuing to ancient Corinth where st. Paul lived and preached. Ancient Corinth was one of the most important cities of ancient Greece. You will visit the agora and one of the most outstanding monuments of the pre roman period, the temple of Apollo.
Our next stop will be Nemea where you will learn everything there is to know about the production of Greek quality red wine before proceeding underground to the cellars containing more than 1,000 French oak barriques. Your tour will end with the opportunity to taste some of the best wine Greece has to offer. Lunch at a traditional tavern. In the afternoon live an amazing experience, the Corinth canal crossing. This cruise between Loutraki and Corinth is a unique opportunity to sail through this impressive work, the Corinth canal made in 1893.The famous Corinth canal, which separates the Peloponnese from mainland Greece, connects the gulf of Corinth with the Saronic gulf. The Corinth canal, though only completed in the late 19th century, was an idea and dream that’s dates back over 2000 thousand years. Overnight

Day 5The Most Beautiful Train Trip In Balkans To Kalavryta

We depart in the morning from Loutraki and after one hour we will be in Diakopto where from we are going to take the cog railway(Odontotos) to Kalavryta.
Cog railway (Odontotos) which links Kalavrita with Diakopto going through Vouraikos canyon, is one of the most beautiful natural sights in Greece. It has been mentiοned as the most beautiful train trip in Balkans. The journey takes one hour.
Kalavryta is a charming small town in north Peloponnese with a plenty of historical and religious sights.
Visit the monastery of mega spileo built on the wild and steep side of a 120-metre high rocky hill there is a unique view from the monastery’s balcony and the famous monastery of Agia Lavra described as the symbolic birth-place of modern Greece. It stands as one of the oldest monasteries in the Peloponnese. It is famously linked with the Greek war of independence , since it was here that the call for “Eleftheria I Thanatos” was first heard on 17 march 1821 , launching the revolution against the ottoman empire. Finally, visit the unique lake of the caves a rare creation of nature. Apart from its labyrinth of corridors, its mysterious galleries and its strange stalactite formations, the “cave of the lakes” has something exclusively unique that does not exist in other well known caves. Back to Loutraki

Day 6One Day Cruise To The Saronic Gulf - Departure

In Aegina you shall visit the cathedral of saint Nectarios and the Doric temple of Afaia, the best preserved temple in Greece, from the 5th century b.C. With its superb beaches and wonderful climate, Aegina is a very popular summer resort
Poros: the smallest of the three islands, separated from Peloponnese by a narrow strait. Poros is the island of peace, romance and jauntiness. It is overgrown with pine trees which reach the rugged shores or the sandy beaches.
Hydra: a cosmopolitan, glorious and magnificent island, combined with tranquility and relaxation. Hydra is a dream of photographers and the favorite of the international jet-set
